And then after the shots were fired, after the lieutenant that he’d admired almost as much as his own mother hit the ground with a wet thud, he heard him screaming “Run!”

How could they have asked him to run when they couldn’t run themselves?

Edward Elric, the Full Metal Alchemist, stood at the graves’ feet, the tombstones themselves piled with little momentos of the two, firewood and toy rifles as a joke.

A tear sailed down his face as his eyes glanced over the inscriptions and to the setting sun ahead.

At least they were free to run now…
