Pale

Fandom: Full Metal Alchemist

Rating: PG-14

The world seems not the same,
Though I know nothing has changed.
It’s all my state of mind,
I can’t leave it all behind.
I have to stand up to be stronger.
I have to try to break free
From the thoughts in my mind.
Use the time that I have,
I can’t say goodbye,
Have to make it right.
Have to fight, cause I know
In the end it’s worthwhile,
That the pain that I feel slowly fades away.
It will be alright.

“Pale” Within TemptationHe didn’t really know who he was waiting for, anyone really, just anyone to walk over that horizon and come up the front walk right up to where he sat on the front stoop.

Except Brother had told him that neither Roy or Riza would be returning tonight.

So Aru sat there, waiting, watching as the sunset in a fiery display of reds, oranges, and violets beautiful enough to paint if he had the canvas and the talent. Waiting for what, he couldn’t really say, except to leap up to his feet once he saw that beautifully perfect horizon broken by one dark figure that he couldn’t tell who it was, but his heart leapt at the sight of it.

They were coming closer.

They were…not alone as another figure came up behind them too quickly to be casual.

And the other figure that he didn’t know who it was, fell, at least that’s what it looked like.

That’s when he heard the gunshots.

He wasn’t the only one who heard the yell, and the shots because Brother, Al, and Masuta came out onto the front porch as well, concern mirrored on all of their faces as the fallen figure quickly got up, raised their arms, more shots echoed through the street, and then the figure quickly ran toward them, more details coming out the closer they became.

Aru was the first down the stairs, maybe it was Roy or Riza caught in a fire-fight out of nowhere, or something more important that caused his mind to thrum in anticipation as he could finally make out a face of the figure.

So pale, he realized as he met the more striking member of the family half-way down the front walk. Red obscured his vision as Riza collapsed before him.
