Whisper
Anyone watching the two agents would have noticed that Agent Fox Mulder’s preferred method of communication with his partner was whispering.
If one paid attention to the two, they’d see Mulder gently snake an arm around her shoulder and pull her to a wall, only to lean close and almost drag his lips against her ear as he said whatever he had to say.
Now, it was understandable that with the agents being assigned to the “X-Files”, paranoia was a given.
But Agent Scully was also Dr. Scully, prized for her level head and the uncanny ability to complement Mulder at any given facet.
It wasn’t as if the attraction between the two was obvious. Not at all, Mulder was too slick to reveal any real emotion when discussing his partner.
Too slick as fellow agents started to witness the smiles out of the corners of their eyes.
“Spooky” Mulder wasn’t quite so spooky anymore.
He wasn’t quite so freakish standing next to the ginger-haired female to his right.
He wasn’t quite so standoffish even if he was breaking a few rules about fraternization.
But Assistant Director Skinner knew that aspect was inevitable. A hand rose to rub at his sweat-lined temple to ward off a headache. There was a reason that he had worked to assign Dana to Fox.
It was so that when Fox whispered, he wasn’t whispering to himself anymore.
